RivCo Deputy Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver During Pursuit: Investigation

Date:

MORENO VALLEY, CA — An investigation was still underway on Friday two days after a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver, authorities told Patch.

On Wednesday around 9:03 p.m., the deputy was chasing an assault suspect across Moreno Valley in the area of Indian Street and Alessandro Boulevard when he was struck by an “unrelated vehicle,” Lieutenant Deirdre Vickers of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department told Patch.

The driver of that vehicle fled the scene and has not been located.

The deputy was taken to a hospital, where he remains in stable condition as of Friday, Vickers said.

The California Highway Patrol, who has taken over the investigation, did not immediately respond to Patch’s request for comment.

No other information was available.
