On February 2, 2023, at approximately 2:00 PM, deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station responded to a populated shopping area in the 72-800 block of Hwy 111 in the city of Palm Desert reference shots fired. Deputies arrived and determined a shooting had occurred.

The man who was fatally shot by police after entering a Target store in Omaha, Nebraska, armed with an AR-15-style rifle had obtained the weapon just four days earlier at a Cabela’s sporting goods store, police said Wednesday. No one else was hurt.
