Boy Seriously Injured In Menifee E-Bike Crash

Date:

MENIFEE, CA — A boy on an e-bike was seriously injured Monday in a crash at Scott Road and Bellamy Lane in Menifee.

The child, whose identity was not released, was riding south on Bellamy Lane at approximately 5:36 p.m. when he crossed Scott Road, into the path of a Jeep Cherokee heading east on Scott, according to a preliminary investigation report by the Menifee Police Department.

The Jeep driver — a 28-year-old Menifee woman — veered to the right to avoid hitting the youth, but she crashed into the e-bike and then smashed into a fence, police said.

The child, also a Menifee resident, suffered severe, but non-life-threatening injuries, while the Jeep driver was unhurt, according to police.

The boy was transported to an area hospital by ground ambulance. An update on his condition was unavailable.

Impairment is not suspected as a crash factor, police reported.

The crash investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has additional information is asked to contact Officer Gonzalez with the Menifee Police Department Traffic Unit at 951-723-1634 or the Traffic Unit at 951-723-1500.
