The number of active COVID-19 cases in the United States is roughly ten times higher than the number of confirmed cases on any given day, according to a computer model by Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health scientists. Since the start of the pandemic, an estimated one-third of the U.S. population has already been infected, with numbers five times that of the official count.

It becomes more clear as the days and months pass that the world is unlikely to return to the pre-pandemic "normal." The pandemic's impact has only accelerated many trends that were already underway in the global economy.

Since taking office last month, President Joe Biden has launched an ambitious plan to stem the pandemic in his first 100 days in office.

Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) is urging retail pharmacies to join the fight for health equity in COVID-19 vaccinations. In a letter to the CVS Health CEO Larry Merlo, Dr. Ruiz called on the retail pharmacy to prioritize high-risk, underserved communities in its vaccine administration plans.

I just finished reading a piece in the “Editorial & Opinion” page of The Chronicle - read through it twice actually - and just can’t help but comment. I realize by giving my opinion on this hot topic many will disagree with me, but hey, this is America! Free speech should be our password!
