Animal control officer hospitalized after being attacked by 2 pit bulls in Riverside

An animal control officer was attacked by a pair of pit bulls roaming a Riverside property, the officer suffered bites to one of his legs before he used force to repel the canines. According to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services, Officer Michael Cox went to the 2500 block of Mount Vernon Avenue, on the west side of Box Springs Mountain Reserve Park, shortly after 11 a.m. to investigate complaints that four dogs were on a homeowner's adjacent but vacant fenced property.

San Francisco-based vacation rental company Airbnb announced Tuesday it will provide temporary housing for 20,000 Afghan refugees worldwide. The effort will be funded by Airbnb, its chief executive Brian Chesky, and donations to its charity Airbnb.org, the company said in a blog post.

Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the White House has approved California’s request for a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration, submitted yesterday, to bolster the ongoing emergency response to wildfires and support impacted communities in Lassen, Nevada, Placer and Plumas counties.

The politician and his wife, the actor and filmmaker Jennifer Siebel Newsom, placed the remodeled midcentury modern mansion on the market after Newsom took office. His family has since moved to the Sacramento area.
