Antonia Briones-Venegas and Aurelia Mendoza officially opened their Frybread Kitchen in February after both had cooked on their own for years, donating their time and special dishes to events and fundraisers.

Starting Thursday Saturday 30th, the Historic Hemet Theatre will host a free watch party for the NFL Thursday Night Football games, projecting the show on the 40’ “big screen.”

On September 27th, Governor Gavin Newsom signed a package of legislation to increase voter access and strengthen integrity in elections, including a bill to send all registered voters a vote-by-mail ballot.

There is an old legend known as “The Tale of King Solomon’s Ring.” This is not a Biblical story, but one handed down through the ages. King Solomon was said to be the wisest man in the Bible and one day, he summoned his faithful servant, Benaya and sent him out on an almost impossible mission. Solomon requested that Benaya find a ring that could transform a sad person into a happy individual and a happy person into a somber person. Benaya spent several months searching out this unique ring, but after traveling the land with no success, he was ready to give up.

The Hemet/San Jacinto Student of the Month program held its first recognition event of the new school year with a few changes. Seven local high school seniors were honored for demonstrating character, integrity, love of learning, involvement in school activities, athletics, and community service. Students were nominated by teachers or other school personnel for making a difference in their homes, schools, and community.
