On November 5, 2021, at 10:00 pm deputies from the Moreno Valley Station responded to Elm Avenue and Clover Court to investigate multiple reports of gunfire heard in the area. When deputies arrived, they located an adult male, later identified as, Haitham Arranaga, a 20 year-old from Perris.

On November 4, 2021, at 7:00 A.M., deputies assigned to the Southern Coachella Valley Community Service District Team (SCVCSDT) with the assistance of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), the Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT), the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team (SET), and the Riverside Auto theft Interdiction Detail (RAID), served a search warrant at a ranch style property in the 87-800 block of Avenue 52 in the unincorporated area of Thermal.
