For 224 seniors at San Jacinto High School, the road to college just became a little easier. The students have qualified for conditional admission to 17 participating California State University campuses, giving them an early opportunity to begin planning their futures beyond high school.
The announcement, made by San Jacinto Unified School District on October 9, comes through the CSU Direct Admission Program, an initiative designed to make higher education more accessible to graduating seniors. The program is offered through a partnership between the Riverside County Office of Education and the California State University system.

Students who are on track to complete California’s required A-G college preparatory courses can qualify for conditional admission to participating CSU campuses. Although students must still complete the necessary enrollment steps and meet academic requirements, the program offers a more direct route toward attending a four-year university.
To recognize the achievement, San Jacinto High School held a CSU Direct Admission Celebration and Information Meeting on October 2. The event brought attention to the students’ accomplishments while giving them an opportunity to learn more about the application process, admission requirements and what comes next as they prepare for graduation.
Beyond the admission opportunity, the program also provides financial assistance with the application process. Each qualifying student receives a code allowing them to submit one CSU application free of charge. Additional application fee waivers may be available to students who meet certain family income requirements.
School counselors are encouraging eligible seniors to move forward with their applications while continuing to maintain strong academic performance throughout their final year of high school. Counseling staff are also available to assist students with financial aid applications, scholarship opportunities and other important decisions that come with preparing for college.3

For many students and their families, navigating the college admissions process can be overwhelming, particularly when balancing application deadlines, academic requirements and the cost of higher education. Programs such as CSU Direct Admission are intended to reduce some of those obstacles by identifying eligible students and helping them understand the opportunities available to them.
With 224 seniors now eligible for conditional admission, San Jacinto High School is celebrating an important milestone for its graduating class. The opportunity reflects the school’s ongoing efforts to prepare students for higher education while helping them take the next step toward their academic and career goals.
