In-Custody Death

On Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 11:54 AM, deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station were called to a business at 6000 block of Valley Way in Jurupa Valley for an assault. It was reported a male was assaulting someone parked in a vehicle. Deputies arrived within minutes and found the male still assaulting the citizen.

Multiple unsuccessful attempts were made to stop the altercation. The suspect was ultimately taken into custody after a taser was used. Shortly after being detained, the suspect became unresponsive. Paramedics were summoned, and deputies began life-saving measures. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital and eventually pronounced deceased. The decedent’s identity is not being released at this time, pending notification to the family.

Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Force Investigations Detail responded and assumed the investigation. No other details are currently available.
