On Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 12:21 AM, deputies from the Palm Desert Station responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 69500 block of Dillon Road in the unincorporated area of Desert Hot Springs. Upon arrival, they found an adult male with traumatic injuries. The male was transported to a local hospital and died from his injuries. Deputies secured the area and began an investigation.

Investigators from the Palm Desert Station and the Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. The decedent’s identity has been identified as 32-year-old Solwyn Nelson of Desert Hot Springs.
