Cyclist Injured In Winchester Incident

Date:

A white pickup truck traveling alongside a group of cyclists left them with no space, causing one of them, a man in his mid-70s, to crash.

WINCHESTER, CA — An elderly cyclist was transported to a hospital Friday after a pickup truck crowded him out in a non-contact incident near a construction zone.

Three men on bicycles were traveling eastbound near the intersection of Simpson and Leon roads at 8:19 a.m. Friday in an area temporarily narrowed by a new construction zone, according to Lt. Steven Rusk. A white pickup truck traveling alongside the riders left them with no space, causing one of them, a man in his mid-70s, to crash.

After the incident, the cyclists claimed the pickup truck driver departed the scene, Rusk said.

Rusk told City News Service that the injured rider was transported to Inland Valley Hospital with a possible collarbone injury. The rider was wearing a helmet and did not appear to suffer serious head injuries.
