A tale as old as time: deceit, deception, trickery. I am no historian, but I am willing to bet a good sum that people have been swindling each other since the sixth day of Genesis. Tales of doublehanded cheaters run thick through generations, warning and teaching of devious behavior. Scams are nothing new.

On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at about 1:44 p.m., the School Resource Officer assigned to a high school located in the 100 block of E Nuevo Road in the city of Perris received information regarding a student who was potentially armed with a firearm.

In December 2023, members of the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force (GTF) received information about a prior convicted felon in possession of several firearms. GTF members conducted follow-up investigation and identified the subject as 41-year-old Leroy Melgoza from Desert Hot Springs.
