If California wants to build its way out of its long term housing shortage, plenty of things stand in its way in 2024: high interest rates, sluggish local approval processes and a persistent shortage of skilled construction workers, among others. But a slew of housing bills from the 2023 legislative session going into effect on Jan. 1 promise to ease or eliminate some of the other burdens.

On January 1, 2024, around 3:23 a.m., deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Elsinore Station, located an overturned vehicle off the side of Lakeshore Drive, south of Manning Street, in the city of Lake Elsinore.

At 4:51 p.m., deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit and Lake Elsinore Special Enforcement Team located two subjects in the Temecula area matching the description of the outstanding suspects. Deputies attempted a vehicle stop, but the vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated.

On Saturday, December 30, 2023, at about 11:05 p.m., deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a suspected DUI driver in Jurupa Valley.  As deputies were responding, a single vehicle collision occurred in the area the area of Riverview Drive and 42nd Street, Jurupa Valley.
