On Monday, July 4, 2022, at 9:30 PM, while working Fourth of July festivities in the city of San Jacinto, deputies were notified of a report of indecent exposure near the Valley-Wide Recreation and Park. Witnesses reported a male who exposed his genitalia in public view in the area of Esplanade and Palm Avenues.

Governor Gavin Newsom, on June 30th, signed legislation to take on the gun industry and get more guns off California streets. Gun violence is the leading cause of death among children in the U.S.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, on behalf of the County of Riverside, is applying for Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funds available through the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs’ Bureau of Justice Assistance. The JAG program allows states, tribes, and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based upon the jurisdiction’s identified needs and conditions.

Joseph Ortega, a suspect in this investigation succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. This investigation is on-going.

In January 2022, the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (RCAHT) conducted a human trafficking investigation that occurred in Riverside and Los Angeles County, Las Vegas and Seattle.
