In January of 2022, the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station Investigations Bureau began an investigation into allegations of a sexual assault. During the course of the investigation the suspect was identified as Jubran Thabit, a 43-year-old resident of Temecula.
During the course of this investigation, one of the suspects was identified as 25-year-old, Andre Williams, of Las Vegas. On May 31, 2022, Williams who was previously in custody in a Riverside County Jail for unrelated charges, had the following charges added: Murder, two counts of Attempt Murder, and Use of a Firearm in the commission of Murder.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved California, Florida, Kentucky, and Oregon actions to expand Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage to 12 months postpartum for a total of an additional 126,000 families across their states, annually—supporting 57,000; 52,000; 10,000; and 7,000 parents, respectively.
Gun violence prevention experts from Columbia Mailman School of Public Health and Teachers College respond to the recent mass shootings in Uvalde, Texas, and Buffalo, New York. All are members of Columbia SURGE (Scientific Union for the Reduction of Gun Violence).
In May 2021, the CDC awarded $2.25 billion in grants to health departments of every state and dozens of large cities and counties. The purpose was to improve health and limit COVID-19 spread in minority groups and rural populations.
