One Arrested for Shooting into a Vehicle

On Wednesday, May 31, 2022, at about 11:43 P.M., a Perris Sheriff’s Station deputy was flagged down by subjects in a vehicle in the area of Case Road and Ethanac Road, in the city of Perris. One of the occupants had been shot in the arm by a suspect in a tan Ford Fusion near the 3000 block of Case Road. Perris Station deputies immediately searched the area and located the suspect vehicle driving near Redlands Avenue and 7 Street, in Perris. 

Two occupants of the suspect vehicle were detained. Perris Station Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. The scene was processed and an expended 9mm casing was located. The suspect, 20 year-old Malik Davis, was the shooter. Detectives learned Davis and the passenger, went to a nearby convenience store, the passenger left a cell phone on the store counter. When they returned for the cell phone, they learned the store clerk gave the cell phone to someone else he thought was the owner.

The passenger tracked the cell phone and ultimately found the victim and her friend parked in the parking lot of the above address. Davis approached the victim’s vehicle, and fired one 9mm round into the victim’s vehicle, striking the victim in the left forearm. Davis was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center (CBDC) for Shooting at Inhabited Vehicle. This investigation is on-going.
