San Jacinto’s City Council is as angry as a hornet over the conduct of one of their own. At the meeting Tuesday Night, the regular agenda played second fiddle to not one, but two arrests of Councilman Joel Lopez, charged several serious felonies and a couple of misdemeanors - all within the past month.

Mayor Karlee Meyer presided over this week’s City Council get-together appearing hale and hardy as ever with a sense of humor unequaled in local politics. Once the preliminaries were over the Council settled down to business at a more rapid pace than in recent meetings.

Mayor Karlee Meyer of Hemet, in an exclusive interview, allowed me to conduct an interview with her about the recent discovery of two small brain tumors and how she is dealing with the situation. I was edgy about how to approach the subject but she immediately set me at ease.

Tuesday’s San Jacinto City Council Meeting, as usual lately, flowed like a well-oiled machine with one bit of turbulence from a dissatisfied tax payer. The opening ceremonies went off like clockwork, with only 3 council members on hand. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved without change.

Most folks think of the Elks as a social club for nice elderly folks seeking companionship, but we recently discovered the lie to that. The Hemet Elks Lodge maintains a close relationship with American Legion Post 53 and other regional chapters and always have their arms open to veterans of the armed forces of all branches and locales.
