When the Four Directions Native American Club at San Jacinto High School began planning its first annual Gathering of the People, it was decided the event should celebrate all cultures.
Soboba Tribal Preschool students arrived at the Soboba Sports Complex parking lot by bus to make their way through the row of displays full of friendly faces and lots of candy at a Trunk-or-Treat event on Halloween, Oct. 31.
Students spent the week of Oct. 17 planning for Noli Indian School’s annual Homecoming Parade, which took place Oct. 20 ahead of the Braves’ football game against Rolling Hills Prep from San Pedro.
The Soboba Elders formed Chair Volleyball teams several years ago and practiced the sport regularly. But sidelined by the pandemic, friendly competitions and trips to compete at other Reservations had to be put on hold for a while. Everyone was excited to start meeting again at the beginning of 2022.
Representatives from the Nutrition & Health Promotion Branch of Riverside University Health System, Public Health have been visiting the Soboba Tribal Preschool every couple of weeks to share healthy lessons as part of an ongoing wellness program.
