Castle Dark Returns To RivCo With New Mazes And Haunts

Date:

RIVERSIDE, CA — Downtown Riverside’s Castle Park will begin the Halloween season early this Friday with the return of its beloved nighttime haunt, Castle Dark.

The seasonal event, now in its 17th year, transforms the amusement park into a realm of monsters, eerie legends and three new haunted mazes. USA Today recently ranked Castle Dark the No. 3 Theme Park Halloween Haunt in the nation for 2024, up from No. 5 last year.

Castle Dark will operate every weekend through Nov. 1, generally from 7 p.m. to midnight, at 3500 Polk St. Regular Castle Park attractions such as mini golf, carnival rides and midway games continue year-round, but Castle Dark is reserved for the Halloween season.

This year’s maze lineup includes “containment Breach,” “Feary Tales” and “Midnight Manor,” along with scare zones “The Endless Chapter” and “Outbreak,” where monsters and apparitions stalk guests at every turn. Live entertainment is also on the schedule, with “Echoes from the Grave” offering theatrical performances meant to mesmerize between the scares.

The haunt is designed for thrill-seekers and not recommended for children under 13. Refunds will not be given to frightened guests, and minors under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian age 21 or older. Platinum and Gold Passholders receive unlimited access to Castle Dark and other seasonal events.

For families seeking daytime fun, Castle Park will also host Dia de los Muertos celebrations every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5:30 p.m., Sept. 20 through Nov. 2. The event will feature vibrant decorations, local performers, kid-friendly activities and trick-or-treating, highlighting Mexican and Latin American traditions.
