Major Injury Traffic Collision
On July 14, 2023, at 9:01 PM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Station received a call of a major injury traffic collision on Box Springs Road at Pine Cone Lane. Deputies, along with paramedics from CalFire, responded within minutes and located the collision.
Shooting at Occupied Vehicles
On July 13, 2023, at 2:50 p.m., deputies responded to the intersection of Bob Hope Drive and Casino Way in Rancho Mirage regarding a shooting at several occupied vehicles. Upon arrival, deputies discovered two vehicles were struck by gunfire, and an occupant of one of the vehicles sustained minor injuries.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon/ Firearm
On Thursday, July 13, 2023, Deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the report of multiple gunshots fired in the area of Iris Avenue and Lasselle Street in the City of Moreno Valley. Deputies arrived quickly and located evidence of a shooting behind two of the nearby businesses.
Sexual Assault With a Minor
In June 2023, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to a sexual assault on a minor, call for service. The Lake Elsinore Investigation Bureau was notified and assumed the case.
Homicide
During the course of this investigation, a suspect was identified as Ruben Esquivel, 34 years of Coachella. Esquivel is currently in custody on an unrelated homicide. Today, new charges of Murder, Arson, and Use of a Gun in the Commission of a Felony were filed by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
