Gun violence claiming more lives of American teens, children

Gun violence is killing an increasing number of American children, from toddlers caught in crossfires to teenagers gunned down in turf wars, drug squabbles or for posting the wrong thing on social media.

Fatal Vehicle versus Pedestrian Traffic Collision

On October 11, 2021, about 7:22 AM, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Moreno Valley Station, responded to the report of a major-injury traffic collision on Box Springs Road, east of Clark Street, in the city of Moreno Valley. Deputies arrived on-scene to find a pedestrian laying in the roadway suffering from severe, life-threatening injuries after being struck by a tow truck. Paramedics from CalFire and American Medical Response arrived at the location of the collision and transported the pedestrian to a local area hospital where he was subsequently declared deceased.

Homicide – October 8, 2021

On October 8, 2021, at about 7:06 p.m., deputies assigned to the Perris Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 19600 block of Seaton Ave., Mead Valley. Upon arrival, deputies found a male victim on the property suffering from a gunshot wound. Shortly after, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The area was secured as a crime scene and station investigators responded to begin the investigation. The Central Homicide Unit also responded and assumed the investigation.

A ringing phone confirmed detectives’ suspicions about Miriam Travis’ case

As Carol Lynn Etchells’ explanation of her mother’s disappearance unraveled, a Riverside police detective dialed the cell phone belonging to 87-year-old Miriam Travis, who Etchells had asserted was in Minnesota checking on a burglarized cabin.

Riverside woman dies when hit by train in Jurupa Valley

A 36-year-old Riverside woman was killed Saturday, Oct. 2, when she was hit by a freight train in Jurupa Valley, officials said.
