On Saturday, February 10, 2024, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a Corrections Career Expo at the John J. Benoit Detention Center located at 82675 HWY 111, Indio, CA. 92201. The event will take place from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM and is open to all members of the public.
On January 31, 2024, at 1:41 p.m., deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to the 43000 block of Elkhorn Trail, Palm Desert, reference a burglary in progress. Deputies arrived at the location and determined the suspect, later identified as Mizahel Morales, 26-year-old resident of Palm Desert, had brandished a firearm and forced his way into the victim’s residence.
The Department of Veterans Affairs announced that it permanently housed 46,552 homeless Veterans in 2023 — surpassing the calendar year goal to house 38,000 Veterans by 22.5%.
During the week of January 22, 2024, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office participated in Operation Reclaim & Rebuild. Operation Reclaim & Rebuild is a multi-agency statewide initiative that focuses on rescuing victims of sexual slavery and human trafficking, identifying and arresting their captors, and disrupting demand for vulnerable victims.
On January 30, 2024, at 5:00 a.m., the Coachella Community Action Team, with the assistance of the Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District Team, the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force, and the Emergency Services Team, served a weapons-related search warrant at a residence in the 85000 block of Cairo Street, located within the city of Coachella.
