Fatal Traffic Collision

Date:

Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Dawn Blair

File # I220760012

Details:

On Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 6:21 AM, deputies assigned to the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of Ramona Express Way and Warren Road, regarding a major-injury traffic collision. Deputies and Cal Fire arrived within minutes and located a traffic collision involving four vehicles. A truck with a small trailer attached was traveling eastbound on Ramona Expressway when traffic stopped in front of him. The driver of the truck, veered left onto the westbound lanes of Ramona Expressway, to avoid colliding into vehicles stopped in front of him. This caused to driver of the truck to collide into a black Jeep Wrangler stopped in front of him, a Nissan Frontier traveling westbound on Ramona Expressway, and into a white Jeep Wrangler, also traveling westbound on Ramona Expressway. The driver of the truck and white Jeep Wrangler had to be extricated from the vehicles by Cal Fire. Both drivers were transported to a local hospital by American Medical Response (AMR). The driver of the truck was later pronounced deceased at the hospital by medical personnel. The drivers of the black Jeep Wrangler and Nissan Frontier were not injured.

The San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. It does not appear drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. Westbound Ramona Expressway at Warrant Road was closed during the investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is encouraged to contact Deputy Cox at 951-654-2702, or Riverside County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 951-776-1099.
