On Monday, August 15, 2022, at 8:05 AM, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Palm Desert Station, responded to a report of a major injury traffic collision involving a motorcycle in the area of Washington St. and Tucson Circle, Palm Desert. Upon the deputy’s arrival they located a 29-year-old, male adult laying in the roadway suffering from major injuries. The male was declared deceased on scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates the male was riding a 2022 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Washington St. at a moderate rate of speed. The rider collided with a 2015 Jeep Cherokee that pulled into the intersection of Washington St. and Tucson Circle. The rider collided with the vehicle and the rider was ejected from the motorcycle. The rider came to rest in the intersection where uninvolved drivers stopped to assist and render aid. The driver of the Jeep was transported with minor injuries, and the rider of the motorcycle was not struck by any vehicles. The cause of this collision is still under investigation, and it is unknown if alcohol may be a factor. The motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and did not survive his injuries.
