On January 30, 2023, at 1:01 AM, deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff Station responded to Ramona Expressway, west of San Jacinto Avenue, San Jacinto, regarding a major-injury traffic collision. Upon arrival, deputies located two vehicles with extensive damage and the occupants trapped inside. Cal-Fire responded and extricated the drivers who were transported to a local area hospital with major injuries. One of the occupants was later pronounced deceased due to the injuries they sustained during the collision.

The San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The cause of the collision is still under investigation and the identities of the identities of the involved parties, including the deceased, will not be released pending further investigation and notification to the next of kin.

The collision investigation required the temporary closure of Ramona Expressway between San Jacinto Avenue and Eagle Road.
