Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm

On January 23, 2023, Lake Elsinore Station deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Deputies gathered information and identified the suspect as Diego Ramirez (39, resident of Lake Elsinore). On January 24, 2023, members of the Lake Elsinore Station’s Special Enforcement Team (SET) assumed the investigation. On Friday, January 27, 2023, SET members conducted a traffic stop on Ramirez and detained him pending further investigation. A search warrant was served at Ramirez’ residence. Items located at the residence included a California non-compliant rifle, a handgun and several hundred rounds of miscellaneous caliber ammunition.

Ramirez was transported to Cois Byrd Detention Center and booked on the charges of criminal threats, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of large capacity magazines.
