Hemet’s Harmoneers Chorale invites singers to join in January

Date:

“Unwrapping Christmas” was the theme of the Hemet-based Harmoneers Chorale’s Christmas concert this year.

More than 300 attended the Dec. 8 concert at the First Presbyterian Church of Hemet, which opened on a light note with songs including “No Time to Diet,” “Nutcracker Jingles” and “What Were You Thinking,” according to a news release.

The program also featured Christmas carols and pieces telling the Christmas story, including “Mary, Did You Know,” “The Shepherds’ Carol” and “Christ Chose the Manger.”

Mary Ellen Van Ostenbridge, who founded the Harmoneers in 1977, directs the group, and the choir’s pianist is Charity Putnam.

Interested singers are invited to join the Harmoneers when rehearsals begin Jan. 20 for the group’s May 18 concert.

Rehearsals are 9:15 a.m.-noon Mondays at the First Presbyterian Church of Hemet, 515 E. Kimball Ave.
