Details:

On April 14, 2022, deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department– Smith Correctional Facility located an adult male inside a housing unit in need of medical attention. Medical staff at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility (SCF) determined the inmate needed to be transported to a local hospital for treatment. American Medical Response (AMR) personnel transported the inmate to a local hospital. He remained at the hospital and passed away on May 1, 2022.

Investigators from the Corrections Intelligence Bureau and the Coroner’s Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. The inmate’s identity will not be released at this time, pending notification to the family. There are no signs of foul play, and due to the ongoing status of the investigation, no further information is currently available.
