Masks No Longer Mandatory on the Bus

RTA will no longer enforce mask wearing on the bus or at transportation centers.

Effective immediately, masks will be recommended but not required on RTA routes. This change comes as a result of the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) recent decision to suspend mask enforcement on public transit nationwide.

RTA’s mask requirement, which has been in place since spring 2020, has been based on federal regulations and the fact that safety is our number one priority. RTA thanks everyone for their commitment to safety and following the regulations for the last two years.

It’s important to know the Center for Disease Control (CDC) is encouraging public transit users to continue wearing a mask.

While RTA passengers and employees are no longer required to wear masks on board the bus, masks are welcome and remain an important preventive measure against COVID-19. Anyone needing or choosing to wear one is encouraged to do so.
