MURRIETA, Calif.– Board of Education Trustee Yvonne Munoz has resigned from her board position, effective Monday, due to personal reasons, according to a Murrieta Valley Unified School District spokesperson.
The current trustees planned a special meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Murrieta Valley Unified School District Office, located at 41870 McAlby Court, to discuss options for filling the immediate Trustee District 3 vacancy. Public comments were requested, and could be included in the Board’s agenda by following this link.

“Individuals wishing to address the Board regarding agenda items posted on this meeting agenda are asked to complete a ‘Request to Address the Board of Education’ card located at the entrance to the Board Room and submit it to the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent & Board.
“Speakers shall be first recognized by the presiding officer at the designated time on the agenda, or before or during the Board’s consideration of an agenda item. In accordance with Board Bylaw 9323, individual speakers shall be allowed up to three minutes to address the Board. The Governing Board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 20 minutes.
A second meeting was planned for Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 5 p.m., also at the school district office.

Munoz cited that a “change of professional demands that would prohibit her ability to effectively serve the Murrieta community.”
Munoz’s resignation creates a vacancy on the Murrieta Valley Unified School District (MVUSD) Board of Education, and the board will discuss options to fill the vacancy at the Special Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 5 p.m.
Munoz released a statement describing her continued interest in the board’s ongoing success.
“Our school district is strong and thriving thanks to the talented teachers, staff and administrators who stay steadfast in their commitment to student learning and achievement,” she wrote. “It is a shining example of how an exceptional public education system can positively impact a community. It has been a pleasure serving, and I will remain an advocate for our students and those who support them.”
