Date:

Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Josh Hephner

File # TE230760245

Details:

On March 17, 2023, at approximately 7:07 PM, Southwest Station deputies responded to an Islamic Center in the 31000 Block of Nicolas Road in the City of Temecula, reference a burglary. It was learned the suspect broke into an interior office door and took a locked box containing money donated to the mosque.

The Southwest Station’s Robbery/Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) assumed the investigation and began following all leads. Through investigative leads and use of video surveillance, members of RBST positively identified the suspect as Mohammad Shehryar, a 26-year-old resident of Corona. During the investigation, it was learned Shehryar committed an additional burglary on April 6, 2023, at an Islamic Center in the 1000 block of West Linden Street in the City of Riverside.

On April 7, 2023, Shehryar was located near the 1100 block of Magnolia Avenue in the City of Corona, where he was taken into custody without incident. A search of Shehryar’s vehicle and residence resulted in deputies locating money stolen from the Islamic Centers and evidence of the burglaries to include burglary tools.

Shehryar was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for the burglaries. Anyone with additional information related to this case is encouraged to contact Sergeant Josh Hephner of the Southwest Station RBST Team at (951) 304-5087.
