Theft of Diesel Fuel Arrest

On Monday, August 15, 2022, at 4:25 PM Thermal Station deputies responded to a report of diesel fuel being stolen from the Mecca Travel Center. When deputies arrived, they contacted two males who matched the description provided by the reporting party.

Attorney General Bonta Announces Felony Charges Against Members of Statewide Organized Retail Theft Ring

California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the arrest of and felony charges against members of an organized retail theft ring operating throughout California, including Los Angeles, Alameda, Fresno, Kern, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Ventura counties. The California Department of Justice filed charges against nine defendants following a California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigation that began in 2021. During a search and arrest operation in Los Angeles on Monday, officers arrested five of the targeted suspects and recovered approximately $62,000 in cash and $135,000 of stolen merchandise from major retailers, including Macy’s, Columbia Sportswear, Abercrombie & Fitch, J.C. Penney, and Lululemon. An additional suspect from the operation was charged on Tuesday and remains at large. Three suspects were charged in a separate complaint on Tuesday for allegedly possessing over $17,000 in stolen merchandise.

Santa Clarita contractor arraigned for 21 felony counts of forgery, theft, and fraud

Adan Deniz, 43, a contractor from Santa Clarita, was arraigned on April 8th on 21 felony counts of forgery, theft by false pretense, and workers’ compensation insurance fraud after allegedly creating fraudulent certificates to secure jobs and underreporting payroll by over $425,000 to save thousands on insurance premiums.

Catalytic Converter Theft on the Rise

On March 15, 2022, the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station Special Enforcement Team (SET), along with members from the California Department of Motor Vehicles – Vehicle Dismantler Industry Strike Team, performed business compliance checks at 28 separate locations within the cities of Lake Elsinore, Wildomar and Temecula due to an increased number of catalytic converter thefts.

Porch Package Theft

On December 17, 2021, the Lake Elsinore Station Special Enforcement Team assumed the investigation into a theft that occurred in the 29000 block of Outrigger Street in the city of Lake Elsinore.    During the investigation, it was discovered, Daniel Rendon, a 23-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore, had stolen a package from the front porch of a residence.
