Skilled nursing facility reopens to patients after April evacuation

A Riverside skilled nursing facility where more than 80 patients were evacuated in April reopened today. The California Department of Public Health reviewed the facility and approved its reopening.

On July 19, 2020, deputies responded to the 31000 block of Casino Dr., in Lake Elsinore, in response to a report of protesting regarding information on recently released sex offender Cary Smith. Upon arrival, the protest was relatively peaceful. During one unrestful incident, a protester threw an object at deputies, causing minor injury to a deputy.

Mr. Smith has left the City of Lake Elsinore. He is still being monitored by Riverside County Sheriff’s Department; however, his final destination has not been released at this time. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.

Illegal Marijuana Cultivation – July 18, 2020

On Saturday, July 18, 2020, at approximately 9:10 A.M., deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station responded to assist Cal-fire and Southern California Edison with a power grid fire in the area of Enchanted Trails and Old Bridge in the city of San Jacinto.

The San Jacinto Planning Commission voted 3-0 Tuesday to recommend two sphere-of-influence annexations to the City Council, including Tentative Tract Map 34271 for 151 single-family lots south of Ramona Expressway. Neither file is a completed annexation.

Shooters Hemet restored to full permit; A placard, score 92

Shooters Sports Bar & Grill at 121 E. Florida Ave. was approved Sept. 22 to open back to full permit status, and the A placard was re-posted. The county report lists a manual score of 92, with no live or dead cockroach activity observed and a surveillance recheck by Sept. 29.

Hemet City Council adopted Ordinance 2081 on Sept. 22, setting Stephens' kangaroo rat mitigation fees on a 4-1 vote with Mayor Pro Tem Joe Males opposed. The rest of consent, including commercial cannabis and $20,000 in Measure U for Fire Station 3, passed 5-0.

Supervisors approve $225,000 San Jacinto Valley Academy resource officer agreement

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved a one-year, $225,000 school resource officer agreement for San Jacinto Valley Academy. The Sept. 15 Statement of Proceedings marks the item approved as recommended. It does not list named Ayes or Noes, and it does not print a roll-call tally.
