On July 4, 2021, at about 10:05 p.m., deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff Sub-Station were dispatched to a report of an unknown trouble in the 100 block of Boxelder Way, San Jacinto. Upon arrival, deputies heard sounds of distress inside the residence, and forced entry. Deputies entered and found a male victim with significant injuries. Emergency lifesaving measures were performed, but the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Deputies also detained a female subject at the scene.

Illegal Fireworks/Possession of a loaded handgun

On July 3, 2021, at 11:13 pm, the Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District Team, were enforcing illegal firework enforcement on the 87000 block of Center St. of Thermal. Five large aerial fireworks, a loaded handgun and illegal narcotics were confiscated. Vincent Adrian Villegas, 27yrs of Thermal was arrested for possession of a loaded handgun and an active felony warrant.

Local Educators Receive $100 CalRTA Grants

Division 33 of the California Retired Teachers Association (CalRTA) held its final teacher grant drawing on Tuesday, June 1st during their last membership meeting before breaking for the summer, with retired NBC4 newscaster, Fritz Coleman, randomly drawing the names of winners.
