Assault with a Deadly Weapon – November 10, 2020

On November 10, 2020, at 9:00 PM, La Quinta Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 53000 block of Avenida Diaz regarding multiple reports of gunshots and vehicles leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Deputies also responded to a second location at Calle Durango and Avenida Juarez regarding a traffic collision related to the shooting. The suspect fled the collision scene leaving behind a Glock 17 9mm handgun with an empty 30 round magazine inserted. Deputies located the 14-year-old male juvenile suspect in the nearby city of Coachella. The suspect was positively identified as being involved and was later booked at the Indio Juvenile Hall.

La Quinta Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant related to the shooting at the 53000 block of Avenida Diaz. An additional Glock 9mm handgun and a multitude of high capacity magazines and drums were seized.

Hemet police say two pedestrians on an electric scooter were struck there about 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22; one was pronounced dead. Police have not named the driver, and the decedent's identity remains withheld.
