Armed Suspect Forces Victim to Drive Him to an Unknown Location

On April 21, 2022, at 7:45 AM, Lake Elsinore Station Deputies were dispatched to a call of a carjacking in the area of Railroad Canyon and Summerhill Drive, in the city of Lake Elsinore. During the investigation, deputies learned the suspect, Jerry Frias Tolentino a 28-year-old resident of Menifee, had brandished a firearm at the victim and forced the victim to drive him to an unknown location, in the city of Corona. Once at the location, Tolentino fled, leaving the victim in their vehicle. The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station Investigations Bureau and Special Enforcement Team assumed the investigation, and were able to get a possible location for Tolentino, in the city of Orange. On April 21, 2022 at 5:00 P.M, Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station Investigators and Special Enforcement Team (SET) Deputies located Tolentino, in the city of Orange, and were able to detain him without incident.

Tolentino was placed under arrest and booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center for the charges of carjacking and kidnapping.
