It has ever so often been said, "Necessity is the mother of invention." Due to the Coronavirus, night-time has been dimmed to a flicker in most musical venues. However, I witnessed something recently when the Derby Bar and Grille introduced a special kind of entertainment under the stars as Neil Morrow opened his Piano on the Patio show. Neil and guitarist Travis Daggert caused the stars to shine brighter and toe-tapping a retro form of keeping time.

I’ve interviewed Mike before, so I knew a little bit about him. He was always willing to fill me in on things if I called with an issue. Very sociable but not the usual politician with all the answers before you asked a question. This interview took place in his realty offices on East Florida Avenue.

Being truthful and honest, and observing the rules of transparency, I must admit that I have known Howard for quite a few years - not politically - but as a member of a local writer's group that I founded in Hemet in the early 1980's. I knew him as a writer and poet. I've never heard him speak politically, so I have no bias in this interview.

I recently interviewed Sue Savage on the patio at her lovely east Hemet home. It was a balmy morning. Birds were chirping in the birdbath and as a slight breeze swept across the yard, she, her husband and I enjoyed our morning cups of java. She has a shy manner unless something comes up that irritates her. Then, it is Katie bar the door, as you will note.
