The San Jacinto Valley seems to be obsessed with wrestling on television. It is a sport with no local connections so far as having it live in this area except high school which is pretty much limited to families with kids participating.
The American Legion Post 53 has been in recruitment mode for our Boys State. Robert Farris, our Second Vice Commander, has been in contact with our local schools, recruiting both boys and girls for Boys State.

The Palm Springs Walk of Fame has found a place for Helen Hunt Jackson, a lady who did more than anyone to point out the horrible way the go-westers treated the natives by so-called settlers.
The American Legion has so much more to offer than merely membership. For instance, all male descendants adopted sons and stepsons of members of the American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in service during World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, and Gulf War, War on Terrorism, during the delimiting periods set forth Article IV, Section 1, of the National Constitution of the American Legion or who died after their honorable discharge from such service, shall be eligible for membership in the Sons of the American Legion.
Steel Magnolias debuted as a stage play in 1987, followed by the film two years later. Since then, it has been produced throughout the country numerous times. Seeing it on the stage today is like dusting off a book you have read before and reliving the experience.
