Jason Cozart has been chosen to lead the team at the Soboba Casino Resort and will help them ring in the new year. He began working for the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians in 1995 and spent most of the past 28 years working in some capacity for the Soboba Casino.

Soboba’s Geneva Mojado receives Warrior Award

The American Indian Chamber of Commerce recently awarded Soboba Tribal Council Vice-Chairwoman Geneva Mojado with the Warrior Award during its 24th annual Native American Heritage Month fundraiser luncheon. Usually in November, this year’s event was held Dec. 1 at the Grand Californian Hotel, Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.

Soboba Tribal TANF honors achievements and families

The Soboba Tribal TANF Program hosted its annual Honoring Ceremony and Traditional Family Gathering at the Soboba Springs Golf Course on Dec. 15. A welcome and blessing was followed by a buffet dinner featuring many delicious options such as braised short ribs, roasted turkey and dressing and winter salad.

The decision to name San Jacinto Unified School District’s eighth elementary school after Soboba Tribal Member and community leader Rose Salgado was made by a unanimous vote of the Board of Trustees in April 2022. Hundreds of supporters and friends, along with members of Salgado’s family, gathered at the official groundbreaking ceremony for the school on Dec. 11 at 600 N. Vernon Ave. in San Jacinto.
