Letter to the Editor

I was truly saddened to read all the great publicity given by the Chronicle to the R-rated Paranormal Cirque coming to our valley this week, complete with trendy pictures. What a catch of free publicity for the dark-horror show! As if our nation isn’t seeing enough blood and gore with mass shootings each week - and with violence & sexual perversion at an all time high - we are now importing this sleaziness into our community!

AMERICA’S ANGRY YOUNG MEN

I am not surprised at all the massacres at the hands of young men with firearms. They are not limited in race, color or ethnicity. However, the leading force is white young men. There are exceptions, of course. White young men are angry as hell and they are responding in a way to get attention. Believe me; they are getting the attention they attempt to draw.

California’s reparations task force is reprising mistakes of the past

The task force has voted to distinguish between descendants of enslaved people who immigrated to California from other states, and Black people who immigrated from other countries. Its arbitrary classifications are likely to have legal, political and cultural repercussions.

School Shootings – Beyond the Hype and Spin

Every school shooting is tragic, including the recent massacre in Uvalde, Texas. Predictably, politicians and pundits are quick to politicize the issue to suit their personal agendas, while not offering any thoughtful analysis or potential solutions.

Money wars

Independent expenditure committees funded by special interest groups are spending millions of dollars to make their picks in the California primary. In some races, they are clearly supporting or opposing candidates. In others, the strategy is more complicated.
