One Person Arrested for Manufacturing “Ghost Guns”

On July 1, 2022, at about 4:15 PM, deputies from the San Jacinto station responded to a report of brandishing a firearm near the intersection of State Street and Idyllwild Drive in the city of San Jacinto. The investigation identified Steven Kent Cheek, a 68-year-old resident of San Jacinto, as the suspect.

Indecent Exposure Arrest

On Monday, July 4, 2022, at 9:30 PM, while working Fourth of July festivities in the city of San Jacinto, deputies were notified of a report of indecent exposure near the Valley-Wide Recreation and Park. Witnesses reported a male who exposed his genitalia in public view in the area of Esplanade and Palm Avenues.

Homeowner Justified in Shooting of an Intruder

Joseph Ortega, a suspect in this investigation succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. This investigation is on-going.

Vehicle Burglary Suspects Apprehended After Fleeing

On July 5, 2022, at 7:00am, deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station assigned to the city of La Quinta were dispatched to the 52000 block of Avenida Carranza regarding subjects in the area attempting to commit multiple vehicle burglaries.
