On Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 11:09 PM, deputies responded to the 13000 block of Sylmar Drive in Moreno Valley for an assault with a deadly weapon investigation. Deputies arrived within minutes and located a male adult suffering from life-threatening injuries.

A California man admits to killing wife in 2019

John Gumina pleaded guilty to the killing of his wife, Heather Gumina, in a courtroom filled with her family and friends. On July 4, 2021, at about 10:05 p.m., deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff Sub-Station were dispatched to a report of an unknown trouble in the 100 block of Boxelder Way, San Jacinto. Upon arrival, deputies heard sounds of distress inside the residence, and forced entry. Deputies entered and found a male victim with significant injuries. Emergency lifesaving measures were performed, but the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Deputies also detained a female subject at the scene.
