Avery, 57, grew up in the Motor City and is aware that homicides and shootings are surging, even though before the pandemic they were dropping in Detroit and elsewhere. His gun is legal, and he carries it with him for protection.

Homicide

On December 26, 2020, at about 4:01 a.m., deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station were dispatched to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 37000 block of Calle de Lobo, La Cresta. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with two uninjured male residents. They were directed inside where deputies found four males with gunshot wounds.

Weapons and Narcotic Sales Arrest

On Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at 7:00 A.M. deputies assigned to the Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT) with the assistance of Riverside County Sheriff’s Department SWAT served a search warrant at a residence in the 85500 block of Stacie Lane in the city of Coachella.

Multi-Agency Parole / Probation Compliance Check

On December 17, 2020 the entire Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force conducted probation / parole compliance checks and saturation patrol throughout the cities of Temecula, Murrieta, Wildomar, Menifee, and Lake Elsinore. Other participating agencies included the Regional Auto-Theft Interdiction Detail (RAID)
