Hemet SKR fee ordinance returns Sept. 22 for second reading
Hemet City Council introduced Ordinance 2081 on Sept. 8, 2026, after a public hearing, 4-1. Proposed fees: single-family $250; agricultural $500 per acre; all other $900 per acre. Second reading is set for Sept. 22, 6 p.m., at 450 E. Latham Ave.
Hemet Measure Q: remaining open houses set; one-cent sales tax on Nov. 3 ballot
Hemet’s Measure Q, a one-cent local sales tax on the Nov. 3, 2026 ballot, has two remaining city open houses at Hemet Public Library after a Sept. 16 session. The city’s FAQ says the tax would generate approximately $16 million a year.

County Environmental Health lists Shooters Sports Bar & Grill, 121 E. Florida Ave., as reopened Sept. 11 after an eight-day cockroach closure. Jack In The Box #3239 on W. Florida closed and reopened the same day for insufficient hot water.
Hemet PD undercover retail-theft blitz leads to three arrests
HPD’s Organized Retail Theft Unit ran an undercover operation Sept. 5 at JCPenney and Harbor Freight with store LP and Riverside County DA investigators. Three people were arrested. Suspects were not named.
