Update:

During the course of this investigation, a suspect was identified as Fredy Morales, 21 years of Perris. On August 30, 2023, arrest charges of murder were added to Morales, who was in custody at the Robert Presley Detention Center, on unrelated charges. This case remains under investigation, and no additional details will be released at this time. If anyone has information regarding this investigation, they are encouraged to call Investigator D. The victim in this homicide investigation has been identified as Jorge Alberto Delgado-Urista, 31-year-old, transient male of the Perris area.  If anyone has information regarding this investigation, they are encouraged to call Investigator D. Details:

On July 23, 2023, at 8:50 p.m., deputies assigned to the Riverside Sheriff’s Perris Station responded to the 300 block of 3rd Street, in Perris, to reports of gunshots heard in the area. When deputies arrived, they located a male suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies rendered medical aid and checked the surrounding area for additional victims, but none were found. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Despite medical care, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The crime scene was secured and the Central Homicide Unit responded to assume the investigation. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
