Homicide Suspect Arrested After a Brief Pursuit

On Friday, April 29, 2022, at 11:10 AM, deputies from the Hemet Station responded to the intersection of Dartmouth Street and Collegian Way in the unincorporated area of Hemet, reference to a report of a male shot in a vehicle. Deputies arrived and located the male deceased inside the car.

Several witnesses reported seeing a vehicle fleeing the scene at the time of the incident. The California Highway Patrol was notified of the vehicle description, and shortly after, a CHP officer located the vehicle. After a brief vehicle pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody.

Investigators from the Hemet Station and the Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. The identity of the decedent is 37-year-old, Matthew Lunsford. The suspect has been identified as 43-year-old Bryan Goetter. Goetter was arrested and booked into custody for homicide.

The investigation is ongoing, and there are no additional details to release.
