Details:

On Thursday, September 14th, 2023, deputies from the Robert Presley Detention Center were alerted to an unresponsive male inmate in the intake area. Deputies and jail medical personnel immediately administered life-saving measures. Paramedics responded and assumed life-saving measures. However, he was ultimately pronounced deceased.

Investigators from the Corrections Central Investigations Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. The inmate has been identified as 48 year old Damon Bietz, of Riverside. There are no signs of foul play, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Art Rodriguez at (951) 922-7152.

The Call for a Four-day Work Week

Some years ago, I visited some old lefty friends, who both just happened to have MBAs. A periodic recession was happening then and we started talking about macro-economics. Being lefties, they advocated cutting the work week to four days in order to make room for more jobs and thus lowering the rate of unemployment.
