Possession of a Loaded Firearm Arrest

On April 14, 2023, the Thermal Station Special Investigations Unit conducted a weapons related investigation. The investigation led to the 50000 block of Kenmore Street, in the city of Coachella. A search warrant was served at a residence in the area. During the search warrant service, William Flores, 21-year-old of Coachella, a documented criminal street gang member and Lilyana Tapia, 21-year-old of Coachella were taken into custody without incident. Flores was found to be in possession of a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic firearm, that was unregistered.

William Flores was booked at the John Benoit Detention center for felon in possession of a loaded firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, violation of probation and a felony warrant for felon in possession of a firearm.

Lilyana Tapia was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center for possession of a loaded firearm and possession of an unregistered firearm.
