San Jacinto, CA

Sounds strange, doesn’t it? Well, strange as it seems, the San Jacinto City Council doesn’t overload their agendas. Their Tuesday night meeting lasted 20 minutes. Their meeting agenda could have been e-mailed to the public. But it went off relatively smoothly with one minor disagreement,
Comments from the council itself were brief.
Mayor Crystal Ruiz gave a very warm, astute and cooperative statement about the recent Mayor’s Ball held at the Soboba Country Club Club that involved the Hemet/San Jacinto Mayors in conjunction with the Soboba Tribe, which had an attendance of 250 people. Such an act of cooperation between the local communities is a welcome event considering the State of our country and the world today. One thing about San Jacinto – they are always willing to reach across any aisle that presents itself.
Then came the business at hand.
They decided to make San Jacinto a sanctuary city for Life without a whisper of descent, which lets us know they have come down hard against the State’s stand on abortion and women’s health rights.
They discussed and asked for an update on the Sanderson Street work project and continued on to an inquiry of a Main Street project, and just kept rolling on like a kid at a skating rink to one final inquiry as to the status of the CIP projects.
THE CONSENT CALENDAR was passed unanimously as follows:
1. Waived full reading of Ordinance(s), and reading by title only.
2. Approved the City Council Regular Meeting Minutes of September 20, 2022.
3. Received and filed Treasurer’s report for the month ending August 31, 2022.
4. Update on Emergency Replacement of Water Main Line on Artesia Street, between N. Jordan Avenue and North Algonia Avenue,
5. Receive and file the report on the emergency replacement of the water main line on Artesia Street between N. Jordan Avenue and N. Algonia Avenue.
6. Determine that there is a need to continue the emergency action pursuant to San Jacinto Municipal Code ss3.08.070(b)(1)
For the first time in memory there was no City Manager Update. And
No future requests from City Council to Staff.
In normal times such a swift exit would be because somebody had an important personal matter to attend to. Just sayin’
