Suspect in Shooting Involving Catalytic Convert Thefts Arrested

On July 17, 2022, in the unincorporated areas of El Cerrito and Wildomar, two incidents occurred where suspects attempted to steal catalytic converters from vehicles and ended up shooting at witnesses. On July 18, 2022, Deputies from the Jurupa Valley station Special Enforcement Team and Lake Elsinore station immediately coordinated an investigation that lead to the finding of the suspect vehicle at a motel in the city of Jurupa Valley. An enforcement stop was conducted on the vehicle and Calvin Amir Matthew Polk, a 28 year-old transient from the city of Jurupa Valley, was arrested. Three female juveniles were also detained. Search warrants were served at motel rooms and the suspect vehicle. Evidence indicative of catalytic converter theft and firearm possession was located. The suspect was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for several felonies.
